Provincial Nominee:

There is an agreement between some provinces in Canada and the Federal Government whereby provinces can select immigrants to settle in their province. Potential immigrants can choose to apply for immigration directly through a participating province as a Provincial Nominee if they desire to live in one of those provinces. Each province has its own criteria for selecting immigrants and they assess applicants according to the needs of that province. Once they nominate the potential immigrant, an application is sent to Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) for permanent residence at the relevant visa office.
